Sorry to ask this again: does anybody like part two of my first chapter?
Can we just go in!?" Rhoda exclaims! "Sure" I reply but really, I'm scared to death. In Lux society, there are three positions. You are either a Magnificent, a Common, or a Lowly. Magnificents living like royalty...Commons as their subjects: meek and uneducated. And Lowlys, slaves to both Magnificents and Commons: being treated with less respect than vermin. Rhoda and I live in Common families. Ari's family are cruel Magnificents. On the last day in every Lux village, all the children who have turned 14 that month will report to their local Magnificent Counsel to have their role in society chosen for them. As you might guess, Ari, Rhoda, and I are all born on the same month...meaning we will face our fates together. "Ali"? I shake my head of the nagging thoughts that have pestered me since January this year. Rhoda and Ari look at me. "you ready?" Ari asks. "Um, yeah" I say, unconfident with my answer. We enter the temple. It is huge, giant stone pillars are supporting the many levels, mythical oil paintings line the walls. Loads of teenagers are all bunched up in a line that goes all the way to the top of the temple. My stomach flips and I feel like I need to throw up. "what's wrong Ali," Rhoda wonders "you know that your going to be a Common" she says consolingly.
