Want some information about BLOOD DONATIONS ......any one help me?
Since different places have different rules I can give you a brief idea. In the US 18 is the age limit & you need your ID when you donate. It is done after they take a brief history to make sure you are healthy enough & have no contagious diseases like hepatitis. They usually take a finger stick to make sure your hemoglobin is high enough. If everything looks OK, you lay on a stretcher & a nurse or lab tech will put in an IV needle & take out a pint of blood (no more at one time). It normally takes about 30 minutes & after they will give you some juice & check to make sure you don't feel dizzy or feel normal. Then you can go home. It's best for you to go with someone to drive you home after ( for safety only). The best way to find out where to go is to call the nearest hospital & speak to their laboratory for they usually know. The other place to call is the nearest Red Cross for they deal with the Blood Banks all over the world. God bless you for wanting to help & good luck.
