Can i get some help buying a car?

I'm 17 and i need a car. my friend has a Toyota Celia 2000 which i like a lot. i want something like that, maybe the mitsubishi eclipse. I'm mostly worried about looks, good mpg, and easy acceleration. i don't know much about cars so any good info is good. I'm obvious getting one used. not sure where to get it and im thinking a price range of around 3 thousand.
