If George Washington hadn't called out Federal Troops to forcibly collect taxes, where would we be today?

We are not against all taxation. We just feel very overtaxed especially since now we get robbed through inflation as well. And we have to pay someone else to help us give our money to the government because the tax code is too complicated.
